EMILY COMBS

Assistant to the Head of School

What do you enjoy doing with your time outside of work?
I can usually be observed teaching myself various art forms including piano, embroidery, cross stitch, painting, drawing, calligraphy, and hopefully more to come.

Which elementary school teacher had the biggest impact on you and why?
My second grade teacher, Ms. Sargent, was my own personal Ms. Frizzle. With her crocs of every color that she would wear in rainbow order, she taught me to adore science as a means of connecting with the world around me.

What do you most hope your students learn from you - other than the curriculum?
I most hope that I can instill students with knowing the beauty of vulnerability. Whether it is social vulnerability when addressing conflict or academic vulnerability when asking for support, I hope they learn that vulnerability, when met with compassion, truly results in empowerment.
